Role: Bid Manager
Location: Elgin
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Manager to join a well-established organisation within the construction and infrastructure sector. This role plays a key part in leading pre-construction and tendering activities, ensuring commercially robust and competitive bids are delivered from initial concept through to project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate pre-construction activities across multiple projects
- Prepare detailed tender pricing and submission documentation
- Develop budget estimates at early feasibility stages
- Produce comprehensive tender reports for senior stakeholders
- Manage all tender-related documentation, correspondence, and drawings
- Undertake cost and value analysis in collaboration with the wider bid team
- Interpret construction programmes and assess cost implications
- Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks and opportunities
- Drive value engineering initiatives to enhance commercial outcomes
- Attend and contribute to both internal and external meetings and presentations
- Provide cost guidance to internal teams and external partners
- Maintain and enhance historical cost data systems
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of all tender submissions
- Produce client cash flow forecasts
- Ensure bids progress in line with programme requirements, with full understanding of design-related costs and contractual considerations
- Support smooth transition from pre-construction to delivery teams, including preparation of detailed handover documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience within construction, ideally in a bid, commercial, design, or pre-construction role
- A relevant construction-related qualification is desirable
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to assess and manage risk
- Demonstrated ability to develop competitive and successful bid strategies
- Good understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and procurement processes
