We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join an established civil engineering company delivering projects across the Scottish Highlands.
This is a permanent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to take responsibility for the financial and contractual performance of civil engineering projects, working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial performance of civil engineering projects from pre-contract through to final account
- Provide commercial leadership and support to project and operational teams
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and cost reports
- Monitor project costs, revenue, cash flow and profitability
- Manage subcontractor procurement, appointments, payments and final accounts
- Oversee valuations, applications for payment and variations
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Manage change control, compensation events and contractual claims
- Ensure appropriate contractual notices and records are maintained
- Review and negotiate contract terms where required
- Work closely with Project Managers and senior management to monitor project performance
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Produce regular commercial reports and forecasts
- Support tendering and pre-construction activities where required
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and other members of the commercial team
- Drive projects through to successful commercial close-out and final account
About You
We are interested in speaking with experienced Commercial Managers and Senior Quantity Surveyors from a civil engineering, infrastructure or contracting background.
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong commercial experience within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Previous experience as a Commercial Manager, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, ideally including NEC
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Strong understanding of change management, variations and compensation events
- Experience with subcontract procurement and commercial management
- Strong negotiation and contractual skills
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Ability to work closely with both operational teams and senior management
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction qualification
- Full UK driving licence
