The Role
Reporting into the senior management team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of your allocated projects, providing leadership across commercial, contractual and operational activities.
You will work closely with project teams, clients, consultants and supply-chain partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking overall responsibility for the delivery and performance of assigned contracts.
- Leading project teams and providing clear direction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintaining strong and effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Managing contractual requirements, change, variations and commercial risks.
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts, programmes and overall financial performance.
- Working collaboratively with the commercial team to maximise project margins and identify opportunities.
- Overseeing subcontractor and supplier performance.
- Supporting procurement, tendering and contract negotiations.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
- Promoting a strong culture of health, safety and environmental responsibility.
- Identifying challenges early and driving practical solutions to keep projects on track.
- Providing accurate and timely reporting to senior management.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the business.
About You
You will be an experienced construction professional with a proven track record of delivering projects within the civil engineering, infrastructure, energy or renewables sectors.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar role.
- Experience managing complex construction or civil engineering projects.
- Strong contractual and commercial understanding, ideally with NEC experience.
- The ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams effectively.
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial, programme and risk-management experience.
- A commercial mindset combined with a practical approach to project delivery.
- Strong communication, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
- A relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline.
Professional membership of ICE, CIOB or a similar organisation would be advantageous.
