Estimator or Senior Estimator
£75,000 - £90,000 + Package | Ross-shire, Highlands
Tired of pricing the same projects over and over?
If you're an Estimator looking for something more than another desk-bound role, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
We're seeking a commercially minded Estimator to join a growing team delivering a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and construction projects across the Highlands and beyond. While our core workload is heavily focused on civil engineering, we're equally keen to hear from experienced construction estimators who are looking to broaden their expertise and develop within the civils sector.
This is a role where your input genuinely matters. You'll work closely with senior management, operational teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to build competitive bids that win work and shape the future growth of the business.
Whether you're already an experienced Civils Estimator or come from a construction background with strong commercial awareness, we'll provide the support and exposure needed to help you succeed.
What's in it for you?
- Salary of £75,000 - £90,000 depending on experience.
- Opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of civil engineering and construction projects.
- Long-term career progression within an ambitious and growing business.
- Exposure to high-value and technically challenging projects.
- A collaborative environment where your ideas and expertise are valued.
- The chance to live and work in one of Scotland's most stunning regions.
The Role
As part of our estimating team, you'll be involved in the full tendering process from enquiry through to submission.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing tender documentation and assessing project requirements.
- Producing accurate take-offs and Bills of Quantities.
- Obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Building detailed cost plans covering labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages.
- Working alongside planning and operational teams to develop practical delivery programmes.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities within tender submissions.
- Supporting value engineering initiatives and alternative construction solutions.
- Preparing tender reports, pricing summaries, and submission documentation.
- Participating in tender review meetings and bid strategy discussions.
- Attending site visits, client meetings, and pre-tender engagements where required.
We'd Like to Speak With You If You Have:
- Experience in estimating within civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, groundworks, utilities, or related sectors.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and tender documentation.
- Experience working with estimating software and Excel-based pricing models.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A proactive approach and desire to contribute to business growth.
Don't Tick Every Box?
That's okay.
Some of our strongest candidates have come from construction rather than civil engineering backgrounds. If you have estimating experience and are looking for a new challenge, we'd still like to hear from you.
