Plant Coordinator
Location: Site-Based Inverness (Highland Region)
Our client is seeking a highly organised and proactive Plant Coordinator to join their team based in Inverness. This role is ideal for someone with strong purchasing, logistics or plant administration experience who is ready to deliver an efficient and cost-effective plant and equipment service across a busy construction environment.
You will play a key part in ensuring that all company-owned and hired plant and equipment is compliant, serviceable and available to support site operations—while maintaining excellent communication with managers, suppliers and site teams.
Role Purpose
- Deliver an efficient and cost-effective plant and equipment administration system.
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best value, quality and H&S compliance.
- Ensure all plant and equipment used by employees and subcontractors complies with legislation and client requirements.
- Support the company’s business plan through adherence to quality, safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to plant requests from site teams and support them with lead-time queries.
- Raise and place plant orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate computerised records (NAV) for all company and hired plant, ensuring:
- Traceability
- Serviceability
- Legislative compliance
- Ensure plant and equipment meet current Health & Safety standards and best practice guidelines.
- Assist in developing and maintaining servicing programmes for plant and equipment.
- Issue only fully serviceable equipment, or ensure users are informed of any limitations.
- Ensure equipment with expired calibration or PAT certification is not used.
- Attend site as required to fulfil plant duties.
- Assist in managing site plant levels and processing monthly plant sheets.
- Support daily planning of lorry and vehicle allocations to optimise fleet usage.
- Help maintain stock levels of plant spares and consumables.
- Liaise with managers to ensure adequate plant and equipment availability.
- Support the development of systems and processes to streamline plant operations.

- Comply with all company H&S management systems and safe systems of work.
- Ensure accurate reporting of accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences.
- Take ownership of safety within the area of responsibility and never ignore unsafe conditions.

- Ensure all work aligns with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
- Relevant qualification in purchasing/buying.
- Strong understanding of supply chain activity.
- Substantial experience in a purchasing environment (preferably construction).
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
- General IT literacy (Microsoft Office – intermediate).
- Strong ethics and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and financial understanding.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
Desirable
- Formal qualification in computer software.
- Knowledge of costing and project management tools.
