An established construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Pre-Construction Project Manager to join its Aberdeen team.
The position will focus on the planning and development of construction projects before work begins on site. You will coordinate design, programme, commercial, procurement and operational activities to ensure each project is fully prepared for a successful delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Manage projects through the pre-construction phase and prepare them for mobilisation.
- Develop the pre-construction programme and overall project delivery strategy.
- Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants and internal design teams.
- Review designs for buildability, cost efficiency and programme implications.
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors on budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts.
- Assist with tender submissions, contractor proposals and client presentations.
- Identify project risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
- Coordinate early subcontractor and supply-chain involvement.
- Develop procurement schedules and identify long-lead materials.
- Ensure drawings, specifications and technical information are issued in accordance with the programme.
- Support value-engineering exercises while protecting quality and client requirements.
- Develop construction methodologies, logistics plans and mobilisation strategies.
- Ensure health and safety requirements are considered throughout the design and planning process.
- Prepare a comprehensive handover to the operational team before construction begins.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal departments.
About you
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience in pre-construction, project management, design management or construction planning.
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or a relevant construction trade background.
- Experience taking projects through tender, design development and pre-construction.
- A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and buildability.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets and procurement.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and pre-construction health and safety requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to identify and resolve risks before they affect construction.
- Experience within the construction or housebuilding sector.
