Procurement / Buyer Assistant
Location: Office-Based Inverness, Highlands
Our client is seeking a detail-driven and proactive Procurement/Buyer Assistant to join their busy procurement team. This role is ideal for someone with purchasing or supply chain experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to achieving best value, quality, and service for the business.
You will support the full procurement cycle—helping to source materials, tools, equipment and subcontractor services while maintaining accurate documentation, strong supplier relationships and high standards of compliance. Role Purpose
- Support the procurement function in delivering an efficient, cost-effective and client-focused service.
- Assist with sourcing, obtaining quotations, and gathering supplier information to help secure best value for money.
- Maintain accurate purchase records, supplier data and procurement documentation.
- Help ensure all procured goods and services comply with legislation, company standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support procurement team in sourcing materials, consumables, tools, equipment and services.
- Request, obtain and record supplier quotations and pricing information.
- Maintain accurate purchase order and procurement documentation.
- Update and manage supplier and subcontractor databases.
- Monitor deliveries, lead times and supplier order status.
- Assist with invoice checking and resolving basic discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of tender documentation and related information.
- Help set up new supplier accounts and support onboarding processes.
- Compile procurement data and assist with reports on spend, savings and supplier performance.
- Conduct supplier and product research for review by the purchasing team.
- Support stock level monitoring and ordering of recurring items.
- Assist with warranty, re-hire documentation and supplier communication.
- Prepare paperwork and scheduling for supplier meetings and take minutes when required.
- Maintain organised procurement files, records and contract folders.
- Provide administrative support to the Buyer and Procurement Manager as required.

- Support the company’s quality objectives by ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and “right first time”.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
- Knowledge of supply chain activity.
- Substantial experience in a purchasing/procurement environment (construction industry preferred).
- Strong ethics and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and financial understanding.
- Results-driven with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop new skills and work independently or as part of a team.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil works.
Desirable
- Relevant purchasing/buying qualification.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards).
